Anna Wray Espinosa completed her NYS Teaching License at Brooklyn College (2020) with an advanced certificate in music education. She completed her MFA in instrumental arts from CalArts (2015) and her BA in music performance from Mills College (2013). Her teaching experience includes employment with the Valhalla Union Free School District, the New York City Public Schools, the Los Angeles Unified Public School District, and the Saugus Union School District in Santa Clarita, CA. Anna is currently a general music teacher for Sleepy Hollow Middle School. She has directed choir concerts, percussion ensembles, ukulele ensembles, and musicals.
Anna also teaches one-on-one instruction for drum set, snare drum, mallet instruments, and piano, in styles that include classical, funk, rock, and ragtime. Her teaching focuses on technique. Integrating essential fundamentals at an early stage of practice, allows students to more readily improvise and develop their own voice.
As with any study, Anna is trying to foster a love for music, the instrument, mastery, persistence, and musicality.
